FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What if I have previous PMU work done, can I still schedule an appointment?
Before moving forward with any PMU appointment, Power Of Pigment will need to see photos of the area for evaluation. Please send your photos to powerofpigment1@gmail.com
Consultations for ALL previous tattoos will be done through email.
Directions on how to take your photos: please take your time & follow these steps to get an accurate response..
1) Take photos in natural lighting- no makeup, no harsh glares or direct lighting.
2) Use the back camera NOT the selfie camera.
3) Brow photos should be taken with eyes closed so facial muscles are relaxed- NO SUNGLASSES!
4) Take a total of 3 photos- left side, right side & front center.
Can I receive Cosmetic or Restorative Tattoo if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
No - we can not perform any kind of tattoo or invasive services on anyone who is currently pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also recommended to wait 90 days post last breastfeeding before moving forward with a tattoo service to allow your body to balance out from all the hormonal changes. Hormone fluctuations can cause you to be more sensitive during service as well as possible bleeding more.
What topical skincare products must I temporarily discontinue before my service?
For all cosmetic tattoo, restorative tattoo, microneedling and facial waxing you must avoid the following topical products for 2 weeks prior to your appointment. These products encourage a quicker cell turnover often causing excessive flakiness and sensitivity to the skin, potentially causing complications and an unfavorable outcome. - AHA's / BHA's / Vitamin A / Retinols / Tretinoin - (anything that causes your skin to peel and flake).
What if I get Botox & Fillers?
That's just fine, however you need to wait a full 4 weeks post Botox, Fillers & Facial Threads procedure before you can follow through with a service for that area. This is to ensure the Botox/Fillers has fully settled in and can not be moved/migrate while we are working on you. Botox also initially makes the skin very tough in texture making it very difficult for the tattoo needle to penetrate and pigment be properly implanted into the skin. You will not have an easy appointment or quality results.
If you have had any kind of eye, eyelid or eyebrow surgery you will need to wait a minimum of 8 weeks before a service can be done in that area - no exceptions.
Can I receive tattoo services if I am currently taking an antibiotic?
No - you must wait 2 weeks post your last dose of antibiotics before receiving any invasive services like tattoo and microneedling. This is to ensure your body is in a healthy state and can properly heal. A compromised immune system is also more reactive and often more sensitive.
** exception - clients prone to cold sores who are looking to receive Lip Blush or Lip Neutralization tattoo services should consult their doctor & take an antiviral medication 48-72 hours before and after service to hopefully eliminate an aggressive outbreak.
Where can I park?
Anywhere in the parking lot - disregard the '30 minute parking' signs.
Can I bring a guest?
To keep our work space as safe & sanitary as possible we prefer that you come alone. If a guest is needed for communication purposes (verbal translation/sign language, etc) or has mobility issues and trouble moving on their own a guest is permitted. As always, please remember NO MINORS, NO PETS ALLOWED - STATE GUIDELINES.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
By following all pre-care guidelines associated with the services you are receiving. This may start 2-4 weeks before your scheduled appointment date if you are receiving an invasive service like tattoo or microneedling. Pre-care guidelines should be followed before every appointment, not just our first session together.
Can I bring a blanket?
Yes - our studio can get a little chilly sometimes so please feel free to bring along a blanket or cozy sweater to keep warm. Just be sure it is clean! You're also welcome to bring mess free snacks, drinks and headphones to keep you comfortable.
